Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Marea Gallery (mareagallery.com) and your participation in open calls organized by Marea Gallery. By submitting your work or using this website, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully before submitting.
1. About Marea Gallery
Marea Gallery is a curated online gallery for visual artists, founded and operated by Tamara Perusic. The gallery organizes themed open calls and presents selected works in an online exhibition format. Marea Gallery is not a physical gallery space.
2. Open Calls — Eligibility
By submitting your work to a Marea Gallery open call, you confirm that:
- You are the sole creator and copyright holder of the submitted work.
- The work has not been created with the use of artificial intelligence (AI-generated art is not accepted).
- The submitted work is original and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- You are at least 18 years of age, or have obtained parental or guardian consent.
- The work meets the technical specifications stated in the open call (format, resolution, dimensions).
3. Submission Requirements
Each submission must meet the following technical requirements:
- Format: JPG or PNG only
- Maximum file size: 10MB
- Minimum resolution: 1500px on the longest side
- No filters, no watermarks, no digital signatures on the image
- One (1) work per submission
- Accepted techniques: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Collage, Digital Art (non-AI)
Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be disqualified without notice.
4. Intellectual Property & Licensing
You retain full copyright ownership of your submitted work at all times.
By submitting your work, you grant Marea Gallery a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Display your work on the Marea Gallery website (mareagallery.com)
- Use your work for promotional purposes related to Marea Gallery, including social media posts on Instagram and Facebook
- Archive your work permanently in the Marea Gallery online exhibition archive
Marea Gallery will always credit you as the artist when displaying your work. Your work will not be sold, transferred, or licensed to any third party without your explicit written consent.
5. Selection Process
All submissions are reviewed and curated by Tamara Perusic, Curator of Marea Gallery. The selection is based on artistic quality, relevance to the open call theme, and overall coherence of the exhibition.
Marea Gallery reserves the right to accept or decline any submission at its sole discretion. No feedback will be provided on declined submissions unless otherwise stated.
All participating artists will receive a digital certificate of participation (PDF). Selected artists will additionally receive a featured position in the online gallery and promotional posts on Marea Gallery social media channels.
6. Entry Fees
Submission to Marea Gallery open calls is free. A participation fee of €25 applies only to selected artists, to help cover exhibition, catalogue and administration costs. The fee amount will be clearly stated in the open call announcement for each edition.
Solo Exhibition and Artist Interview fees are stated on their respective pages.
7. Prohibited Content
Marea Gallery does not accept submissions that contain:
- Content that is offensive, discriminatory, or hateful
- Nudity or sexually explicit material
- Content that glorifies violence or illegal activity
- Work that infringes the copyright or intellectual property of others
- AI-generated imagery or work created with AI assistance
Marea Gallery reserves the right to remove any work from the gallery if it is found to violate these terms at any point after selection.
8. Privacy & Data Protection
Marea Gallery collects personal data (name, email address, country, website, social media handles) solely for the purpose of managing open call submissions and communicating with artists.
Your data will not be shared with third parties, sold, or used for any purpose other than managing your submission and communicating with you regarding your participation in Marea Gallery open calls.
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting info@mareagallery.com. Requests will be processed within 30 days.
By submitting your work, you consent to Marea Gallery storing and processing your personal data as described above, in accordance with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR).
9. Limitation of Liability
Marea Gallery is not responsible for:
- Technical issues that prevent submission of your work
- Loss or corruption of submitted files
- Any indirect or consequential damages arising from your participation in an open call
Marea Gallery makes no guarantees regarding the commercial value, exposure, or outcome of participation in any open call or exhibition.
10. Changes to These Terms
Marea Gallery reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the website or submission of work after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
